65 budget build in akron,oh
hi everyone i feel i know you from all the reading ive done on here. i want to share some pics of a budget build im doin kindda ratroddish based on havein no money. my know how is limited so if im doin something wrong or unsafe please correct me and ill do it right. first of all the truck was given to me by my father who bought it from a family member years ago with the intention of fixin it up, but his health got in the way and i think the clutch and 3 on the tree is a little much for him.ive done a little , iver lowered the truck with the oldschool budget build advise with jeep springs in the back and cut 2 full coils off the front looks great. drove around the block then pulledthe bed off along with a big sheet of 1/4 treadplate out of the bed someone welded in then out came the rotten wood. the truck is in really solid shape, has a 350 and a three speed manual tranny. ill get back to you when i can just wanted to show you what im doin and very inspired by all of you, thanks, john

Lookin good... in those bed areas where the lip is bad I bolted some angle irond and used pressure treated fence slats for my bed...
Dig the running lights.... After I dropped mine I put new shocks on it and am very happy with it.. I will be watching, keep the pictures coming

Re: 65 budget build in akron,oh
Nice start, I live in Akron also. I've got a 65 Shortbed big window that's the exact same color as yours... I've never seen another one that color in Akron before, but i see one on-line. Go figure. I'm in the process of tearing mine down and rebuilding it. I'll have to watch your thread... Good luck

Re: 65 budget build in akron,oh
I got a 73 gmc with 40k miles to use as a donor truck. I pulled the 350/th350
combo, power steering disc brakes, and 12 bolt posi for the 65 now. I bought new rockers and wrangler springs for mine. It's going to sit spring as I collect more parts since I'm on a budget too. I'm in Springfield. |
