drive shaft problem
ok here is the problem. i came across a 78 c10 longbed with no motor or trans. i had an 80 c10 shortbed. pulled the motor and trans out of the 80 and put it in the 78. i belive the trand is a 400 short tail cuz the yoke bolts in the trans. the problem is my driveshaft for the long bed is too short by 3-4 inches ......other than getting a driveshaft made what else could i do? and how much would it be to get one made

The last drive shaft i had built only cost 200$ And a th400 will accept a slip yoke as well as a bolt on yoke.

ft worth gear and axel will make you one for $180
or you can get the measurments from center to center and go to apachie auto in Kennedale and look. I had the same problem with my short bed and I ended up getting one out of a 94 short bed. Try a newer model long bed at some of the yards around here.

My local Kansas driveline shop makes the drivelines with new U-joints for about $150.00. A new yoke may raise the price some, but this is complete with a balancing of the line.

Just get a th400 slip yoke its a easy deal then slide the yoke in a bit then measure center of the yoke to center of pinion for the center to center and figure what u joints ie 1310/ 1330 /1350s
