79 c-10 engine build

Hello everyone, I just got rid of my 1983 chevy silverado with a mildly built 350 in it! I just picked up this 1979 c-10 shortbedfor a grand I needed something to work on and something to build! This truck came with a stock 350 and a police edition tranmission and a B&M shifter. I want to try to build a motor that would have aleast 450hp-500hp. This truck will only be a weekend crusier not everyday! so i was thinking about a 383 stroker motor or maybe a move up to a 400 small block but i was leaning more toward sticking with a 350 and stroking it but thats another reason im on this forumn to see what everyone elses opions are im sure there are some really good motor guys on here who give real good advice well thanks for you time

Unless you just itching to build an engine buy a crate motor and bolt it in. Cost actually is probably cheaper than doing it yourself. GM sells a bunch of crate engines at whatever HP you want. JMO

What is the difference between the "police edition" transmission and a regular one? Big trans cooler?

Can't beat crate motor prices and no waiting forever for a machine shop to do this and that.
