Light body work/painting in a garage???
'71 C10. Want to strip surface rust with a grinder and apply what it takes to stop it from coming back. All I have is a tiny compressor and no "spray" equipment. I know I need to neutralize the rust left in the pits of the metal after grinding with a "metal prep" type of product from PPG or another maker then cover with an enamel primer from a can. Can an inexpensive spray gun be used to do this? I've never done any car painting or real spray painting so I don't really know the process of doing it right. Anyone have advice for an amatuer or suggestions on equipment or paint/primer products to stop the rust?

Re: Light body work/painting in a garage???
here in my town they sell a handheld sand blaster at harbor freight for $20 and it holds like a cup of sand. i would sand down to bare metal then hit the rust with this instead of using chemicals to kill the rust because who knows if that stuff really works. they say they test it and things like that but theres always a possibility it might come back. best $20 a spent was on that little sandblaster. it works perfect. i even used it when i did frame work to paint my frame
