Help with fenders and inner fenders
Once again I turn to the best place for wisdom and advice for my truck. I am ready to install inner fenders, radiator core support, fenders and grill support.. I have the appropriate seals. Do I need to put seam sealer where metal touches? Do I need to put any around the seals? Should I have a rubber seal to go between the fender and inner fender?
If you haven't guessed, this is my first project. As always, thanks for the help. Buck |

Buck:
Welcome to the forums from Kansas City, KS. For answers to your questions, as far as the way it was done at the factory, I recommend purchasing these books. There are others, but these are great resources for some of the details. In summary, there was no seam sealer in these areas, however, it may be OK to do it, to eliminate metal-to-metal contact. Good luck with your project and don't forget to post some photos of your progress. |

Re: Help with fenders and inner fenders
Ok,
I got the inner fenders and the radiator support on the truck. My problem is that the radiator support does not fit to the frame. The support is about an inch past the frame holes. Any ideas? Thanks Buck |

Re: Help with fenders and inner fenders
I know this costs money but we do it when rebuilding. Take it to a frame shop and make sure its straight. I know people will say how good the parts fit before replacing with new and now they don't fit but many times the new install problems can be fixed with a simple frame check. Its amazing how the problems go away when the alignment is correct. We do this for a living and you want to eliminate as many problems as you can.
If on a budget Like stated above get a manual and at least check the cab to frame squareness now before bolting it all up. Get it on a concrete floor (clean) Draw some layout lines on the floor. A chaukline with some clear spray over it works or whatever and start checking dimensions. You can use lasers now to help get the lines straight and perpindicular. Or use the ole 3 5 9 method. |

Re: Help with fenders and inner fenders
I'm thinking that may be a typo? I'm familar with 3-4-5 and 6-8-10 etc. but 3-5-9 doesn't quite work out
