Re: 9/16 lug bolts on a 12 bolt
I have 9/16 studs in a 14 bolt 9.5" ring gear sf rear axle, but they were factory...and I wanted to keep the same all around so I put them up front in the 44 also. I had to FIRST get the proper studs then have the rotors and hubs drilled out at a shop (required odd size holes in my application) and slam the studs in. If I had to do again, I would do 1/2" as they are a bit more common and easier to find.

Re: 9/16 lug bolts on a 12 bolt
Why change to 9/16ths? Are you matching to a heavier front end?

Anybody, i guess the 14 bolt axles shafts have a thicker piece where you put the lug bolts on, the 12 bolt is a thin thing.

That '03 Silverado probably has metric threads.

The 4x4 was 7/16" 6 bolt
2 wheel drive was 1/2" 5 bolt Newer trucks used 14mm x 1.5 thread. |

I didn`t realize all the newer use the 14mm lugs. That is the equivalent to 9/16s which was traditionally only 8-luggers.It makes sense to only use one lug size.
