My '65 sbss Project
I picked this truck up a few weeks ago and will be starting the restoration fairly soon. The first projects will involve the drivetrain and suspension. The truck currently has a 283/TH350 combo in it. I plan on swapping that out for a 350/700R4 combo. It also has a 3"/3" coil spring drop on it that I plan on swapping out for a 2.5" spindle/5" coil drop. It already has sway bars front and rear but I will be installing a 73-87 disc front end. It already has power steering but I will be installing power brakes at the same time that I do the front end swap.
It needs the typical patch panels including cab corners, rockers, inner cowls, bottom door corners, front fender bottoms. I also plan on shaving the drip rails and rounding the top corners of the doors. I plan on installing an aluminum fuel cell that I have under the bed along with a ZR1 fiberglass rollpan. I have autometer gauges to install in a Boese engineering dash insert. I have a late model truck bench seat to make the interior more comfortable along with a tilt steering column. I also have kits to shave the door handles and to make the windows power. I am sure this will be a lengthy project but I intend drive the truck as much as possible throughout. Anyways here are a couple pictures and I will update this thread as progress is made. |

Well it sounds like you definitely have a plan and that's good. Let us know if you need help getting there. Consider starting a build thread. BTW what's the deal with the cab roof in the bed?

Re: My '65 sbss Project
There is some rust on the front corners of the cab just above the drip rail on the corner of the roof and just below the driprail near the corners of the windshield. The PO was planning on replacing the whole top of the cab but I think I am just going to use it to make my own patch panels for the areas that need repair. I plan on doing this at the same time I am shaving the drip rail.

Sounds cool and also like a good plan. Good idea about driving it during the build. It sucks doing the work and not getting the "instant results".
