Re: Sneak Peek - next Lks Dcvn project
It should be in my driveway tomorrow thanks to Mike [Fine69].
I will get more pix and details when it arrives. I will dodge out of work for a bit to meet him at my house for delivery. Details: 1970 2wd Blazer 307/4 Speed Utility Buckets 16" Factory rims [650x16x6 option on the SPID] New Tires New Clutch New Radiator New Water Pump New Gas Tank It is a 1 owner truck - except the guy who I am buying it from but he has only had it a few weeks and didn't do anything with it. So I would consider it a 1 owner truck. Mike said that it looks like original miles to him. I am moving a few cars to extended storage for the winter later this week so I will have 2 bays in the garage over the winter to work on it and the 72 Blue 4x4. It does have rust - so it isn't perfect - but I will inspect it over the next few days to see how it looks. Oh, and it is currently a driver so I will have it inspected by my mechanic this weekend and get the grocery list of the things that it needs to make it reliable and tackle them over the next few months. Build thread will also be coming... |

Re: Sneak Peek - next Lks Dcvn project
Plans are to make sure it is mechanically sound and drive it for a bit before tackling any of the major systems. Curious to see the rust on it...
I have a few things that I bought for the other 2wd Blazer project that are waiting to be used - I don't have any more pix - I got a SPID pic from the PO so that is how I got the color code... |

Re: Sneak Peek - next Lks Dcvn project
I am back at work now and Mike is probably home by now...I won't be home until later tonight - if it is light enough out - I will get some more pix of the new addition.
It runs pretty well actually. Mike drove it off the truck and I drove it into my yard without issue. Purrs like a kitten. Forgot to add 'new exhaust' to the list... The tires are pretty interesting looking tall and narrow - I will get the size when I get home tonight. I am taking it down to my mechanic tomorrow am for a once over - I will be around part of the weekend [going to a OSU vs UM gathering] and can get pix if it stays dry enough... The hatch is in GREAT (if not perfect) shape - this is the first one that will stay up on it's own and works like it should. No cracks that I could see in my 30 second once-over. I will oil the hinges tonight to make sure that they keep working and not crack the hatch (like all the rest I have seen/had). |

Re: Sneak Peek - next Lks Dcvn project
Ahh... just giving you some crap, but I am glad to hear it was everything you expected it to be. It sounds like a solid starting point, and the color is good looking as well. There's actually an original '69 (IIRC) SWB on Ebay right now with the same color.
Curious... does it have an inline?

Re: Sneak Peek - next Lks Dcvn project
Nope - 307. I will get an engine bay pic tonight if I can.
I was surprised at how quiet it ran - you can barely tell it is running... It has a new tank so I know the gas can't be that old...I see the gas gauge doesn't work so I will likely have to drop the tank to see what is going on with it...I have done that project a few times already and bought spare fuel line last time I ordered it so I wouldn't have to look/wait for it to show up. |

Re: Sneak Peek - next Lks Dcvn project
Congrats on your 2wd blazer. Looks like yours is miles ahead of mine in all departments. Don't get in to big of a hurry to discard that 307. I have had 8 of them over the years and had great luck with them. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it.

Re: Sneak Peek - next Lks Dcvn project
Moved 3 cars to storage with my Dad this morning...what a PITA.
Then had to go into work in the afternoon - just getting home so no pix again today. Mechanic said that the only thing it needs mechanically is a new battery. First time that has ever happened to me when I have bought one of these trucks Usually the 'fix-it' list is extensive, but this one is pretty good. Rust repair was investigated on the truck...needs surgery Torsion Boxes = rusted out Floors - need checked - rust present - not sure how bad yet A/pillars - need checked - rust there for sure after I check the floor B/pillars - rust present for sure - will likely need some attention Rear Floor was covered with steel plate (existing floor still there though - - need to see how they 'mated' these together and if it can be remedied... I don't think the top has EVER been off this thing...that is why the doors shut like they do... Pix coming this weekend. |
