Flip Kits
I was wondering you guys with flip kits how many leafs do you have in your pack? I currently have 4 leafs left cause i took a few out trying to get my truck where i wanted it and im afraid to take anymore out so im just going to do a flip but am i too late, do i need a new spring pack or will the flip still work with just 4 leafs in the pack?

Re: Flip Kits
I think you will be VERY low. I think Aaron (flamingbig10) had removed leafs and put them back because it was too low and too soft. I think it was him.

Re: Flip Kits
Fewer leafs will lessen the payload capacity while dropping the truck....
Mine is the HD spring pack w/8-leafs. When doing the flip-kit, the more leafs in the pack, the greater the drop. 5-leaf packs typically yield 5" drop; 8-leaf packs yield 6" drop.

Re: Flip Kits
Did you notice the topic was about "flip kits"? That puts the springs under the axle.

Re: Flip Kits
Ok.
Please explain why trucks w/more leafs in the pack yield more drop when installing a flip kit.

Re: Flip Kits
They don't. I don't care of you run 13 leaf packs. See the pics above for an example. The axle sits ABOVE the TOP leaf. The amount of leaves under the top leaf only makes the pack stiffer.

Re: Flip Kits
Mine is flipped with 3 leafs from a light duty. It sits the same as it did with 7 leaf heavy duty pack. The lighter spring pack seems to have alot more arch to it.

Re: Flip Kits
Ok guys lets go easy on Ceeten here.
I can see why you think it doesn't have an impact. In the stock location with the springs above the axle, removing leafs lowers the truck for two reasons. The first one is static drop. By subtracting the thickness of the spring you know that the truck will be xx amount lower. At some point removing leaves also reduces the spring rate enough for the secondary means comes to play. By removing xx springs from the pack you will get approximately xx amount of drop. Now look at that same formula when applied to a flip kit. You are correct that it will no longer lower the truck by means of static displacement. This will however still have the same impact on the amount of drop that the reduced spring rate has accomplished. That drop will be combined with the total drop that the flip kit provides. Did that help?

Re: Flip Kits
LOL. We were talking about two different things. I see what you guy's are saying. I was under the impression that they were saying that you could get the truck lower by stacking leaves.
