Finally ordered new wheels
There comes a time in every car guy's life where he must cast aside a beloved part for one reason or another...
This is nothing like that... A couple weeks ago I went to replace the brake hoses on my truck with shiny new stainless braided lines and what should have been a two hour job turned into a three day nightmare. The main reason was those dam slot mags that everyone seems to love so much. This will be the last time that these wheels will get in my dam way, waste my time, or otherwise annoy the hell out of me (f*%^ing uni-lugs...) I rdered a new set of Cragar Street Pro 390's to replace them. These shouldn't give me nearly as many problems, headaches, or other side effects like excessive swearing. So say good-bye to the old and hello to the new...

Re: Finally ordered new wheels
I loved the look of your truck with the slots. The look is similar, but updated! Here is to hoping the new will be just as awesome once on. Otherwise you might have people coming after you.
What size did you go with?

That is a nice truck man, I really think you have the stance nailed, it looks mature yet mean.

I'm not selling the slots, just in case... These new wheels will hold me over until I get the chance to overhaul the suspension and then I'll be switching to a set of Billet Specialties that are very similar.

Re: Finally ordered new wheels
I think the staggered 8s & 10s will be great for your truck. When can we expect pics?

Re: Finally ordered new wheels
As soon as the come in I'll be @ the tire shop. Should be ~2 weeks. The 15x10's are on back order.
I'll post pics as soon as they are bolted up, maybe even while they're being bolted up...

Re: Finally ordered new wheels
I am confused? Why are you buying new wheels now, just so you can buy them again later?
I really like the wheels you bought. Why not just get them in 17's and be done with it? The gray centers would look sweet too.

Re: Finally ordered new wheels
X3 Very good question that didn't cross my mind last night. And the gray centers are killer on that wheel.

Re: Finally ordered new wheels
I don't understand what the old "slot mags" were doing,... that this wheel won't do?

Re: Finally ordered new wheels
If I could afford to buy all new tires as we, I would have gone with 17's, but I just couldn't justify the additional money spent. The only reason I'm getting these new ones is because the wheels I currently have cause alot of problems when taking them on/off. They have an oblong hole for the stud to go through and its VERY easy to crossthread the lug nut and not even know it. Because of this, I've had to replace 3 wheel studs, which takes time, trips to Autozone, and adds frustration. It also can take 10 minutes or more to attach a single wheel...
I tried to order a set with the grey centers, but the only company that I know carried them (online) was having some serious issues with their site and I couldn't order them. I plan to do some custom powdercoating to them so they will look like this; These really are just piece of mind if you will; I know that with these wheels that I won't have to spend a ton of extra time fitting and fixing...

Re: Finally ordered new wheels
It sounds to me like your wheel studs were too short. I had wheels similar to that and with the longer wheel studs I simply started all five lug nuts, and then pulled the wheel onto the lug nuts, and tightened them all down.
