KBS Frame Coater?
Has anyone used the KBS Frame Coater Kit?
I want to hear all about it. I'm considering it for me 72. Do I need to wire brush the frame or will the rust remover really work as well as advertised? Is there any national chains that carry it or do I have to order it from their website?

Re: KBS Frame Coater?
I used it. I've only done one frame though. So I can't tell how it compares to other products. It seemed to go on pretty good though. Laid out smooth. We'll have to see how well it holds up when I get the truck on the road.

Re: KBS Frame Coater?
How did you prep the frame? Did you use the included cleaner and rust remover or did you have it blasted?

Re: KBS Frame Coater?
I had the frame sandblasted. The included cleaner and "Etch" stff works ok but it went on a lot smoother over the blasted metal. Be sure you wash the frame thoroughly if you sandblast it. I missed a couple of spots and now I have some sand stuck in the paint. That part is going to be covered so no one will see it, but I know it's there.
Also, pay attention to the temperature and humidity. I had to redo a couple of pieces because I got too impatient and it was too humid outside. The stuff really bubbled up and didn't set well. I had to use Aircraft Stipper to get it off and it was still hard to remove. When applied properly it looks great and lays out smooth as glass. Any problem I've had so far has been my own fault.

i've been impressed with all of KBS' products so far. the Aqua Clean and Block Coater worked especially well.

Re: KBS Frame Coater?
I used it great stuff.
I had my frame sand blasted first covers nice only problem I found is if you open a can it is hard to reseal proper? better to pour it into some other container. I understand it was the same chemist who made POR15 started this stuff?

Re: KBS Frame Coater?
Seems like everyone who has used it, has blasted the frame.
Due to lack of space and resources I can't blast the frame. Is the included prep stuff good enough for the job? I'm going over the entire frame with a wire wheel.

Re: KBS Frame Coater?
I assume you mean heat? I will be doing into very soon so it is pretty cold in my garage. Humid isn't a problem.
