Help needed!! X-pipe & crossover-pipe

Hey guys

I am in need of help right now cause i am stuck

I working on my truck build i am at exhaust part right now and i need figure it out with 2 days.

I want to do a x pipe or crossover pipe (X-pipe is preferred)in my exhaust system to balance it out.

The problem is i cant figure it out and where or how and pics will be appreciated and will make my life easier.

man, dont know?! the only suggestion i have is to get the x back from the tranny pan. i had a custom crossover with 3" piping between the bell housing and tranny pan and it would get too hot. after awhile the pan started leaking on the pipe. your kinda limited on space if your trying to get the exits in front of the rear tires.

i have and x pipe i ordered from summit a while back and i took it to 2 different muffler shops when i went 2 get my exhast system hooked up and neither 1 of them wanted 2 install it4 me so i just ended up leavin it out

I Thinking about the about not doing a x pipe it just looks to hard and be a PITA so i might go for the h-pipe it just looks nice and clean.

ive heard x is for hp and h is for torque, is there really a noticeable difference?

ive also heard x is new age sound and h is old school

ive got an x on the goat and wonder how different an h would sound... idunno

X pipes gives you more over all hp and tq. Hpipes have been around longer and dont do that much like a Xpipe

I had an x on mine, crossed it just behind the trans tailhousing. Be sure to put some flanges in front of the mufflers to make it easier to remove in case of trans trouble. Sounded absolutely wicked. LT1 with headers, x-pipe, and spintech mufflers.

Here's mine. Summit Racing "H" pipe kit. Cheap, and increases scavenging and balance, supposedly to increase horsepower through better flow,...sounds great, sure seems to work quite nicely (!), and it is tucked up out of the way. Shorty headers for manifolds:



"H" pipe is FAR easier to install, compared to the "X" pipe, but I believe that the "X" pipe gives better gains.

Now i am never going to be happy with h-pipe at all.

I wish it still looked like that. I had it custom made but a local chassis fab guy. Its 3" mandrel connected to sanderson shorty headers. My goal was to keep it all inside the frame so I could bag it some day.

It doesn't look like its going to be a problem its not sitting that low and its over the transmission cross member so i think you be fine.

All my cars have xpipes on it, all the cars and trucks that we do at the shop all that is requested are x-pipes. they are very easy and clean to install on a custom exhaust.

I have a neighbor with Bassani exhaust with X-pipe on his GT 'Stang. It's one of the meanest sounding street legal Fords I've ever heard

I seen on most truck that x pipe is under the drive-shaft the guy that is doing my exhaust looked at the truck today and he is planning on getting it above the drive-shaft.

go with an h pipe man the exhaust shop will love you for it. where i went for the pipes on my big 10 i asked for an x pipe and i got a h pipe i dont realy care couse its my daily driver but i think it is a pain in the rear for the exhaust shops to make them (thats what it looks like 2 me), an h pipe will do just fine man its better than none!

Well i am doing this once so I want it to be right I don't want to regret it later cause I know I redo it just to feel better

That's the way I feel. Nothing worse that thinking "If I had spent just a little more I could have got what I really wanted". If the shop don't want to do it, find another shop.

You don't have much length to fit an X-pipe and your mufflers and have your exits in front of the rear tires with a short bed truck. It's going to be tight depending upon how long your muffler are.

You might have to put the side exits behind the rear tires.

The guy who is doing my exhaust is friend and welds 18-wheeler tanks for living it was his idea to put the x-pipe above the drive shaft and the funny thing he is more excited than i am

Thanks man i need it I know that the guy works on VW with turbo's and he makes his own intake,pipes and exhaust and these things has no space. When he looked at my truck it didn't look like a biggy to him so i am having more faith.
