Over Sized front Discs and Rear Disc Conversions

I'm looking for some Affordable over sized front disc brakes w/four piston caliper and a rear axle disc conversion kit.
For under $2000.
Am I dreaming or is it out there and I'm just looking in the wrong places.

I'd say the only way to do that would be like I did and bought parts off a project for the rear and caught a great ebay deal on the other. That said, I only did 12" cross drilled w/ single piston calipers. But, I spent around 500 total for the brakes, brackets, and calipers/pads/bearings, etc.....

The 4 piston caliper are gonna be what kills your budget. I just did a Bear big 6 kit on a Escalade ESV and the front pads alone were $300, I also recently did the Brembo kit and it front pads were considerably more for just the pads.
A few years back I did the big Rotor front/ rear disc swap from SSBC on a square blazer and I'd have to look at invoices but IIRC my cost on parts was around $1300. It used a stock style single piston up front with larger diameter rotor. to be honest I didn't noticed a big difference in braking between the 3 although the blazer was basically a stock 4wd with a swapped 454, the ESV had a ton of motor work and was trying to stop on 305/35/24's so ALOT more mass involved there.

For under $2k it will be next to impossible to go to fancier calipers.

Well I've found a 10.5" rear disc conversion kit for $570
and a front 10.75 disc w/4 piston caliper for $739.

Talk to kore3.com they should have brackets to run c5 or c6 brakes.Or flynbye.com hes not the fastest person to deal with tho.

Might look at the CTS-V calipers. They are affordable 4 piston Brembos. Looks like the new Camaro has a similar caliper. This thread even a couple of posts from someone trying to use them on a truck. Just gotta figure out how to mount them.

Ya thats what I was gonna say.... My plans (on my impala) take my stock hubs and machine them out of my current rotors. then go buy the caliper bracket and lager rotors from kore 3 (bout $300 for the set and brackets) then get some new vette C6 Zo6 calipers (about $500-$800 for the set) and I should be around the 1k mark.

i at first dismissed the thought of rear discs for my 71, but i am now thinking about it and doing a little research. i guess i'm still thinking i can do a rear conversion with e-brake for less than 400.00 with all new parts. still researching and reading.

Check out http://www.ssbrakes.com/. I have them on my 89 and like them a lot. They get pricey depending what you go with but you should be able to stay under $2000.

about $800 for the rears, single piston. Lists as working up to a 1991 C10 Blazer. Maybe discs were optional on the 91 blazers and can be found junked or in parts stores? Going to check right now...

No dice. 1991 Z28 Camaros had rear discs though...
2 x 11.665" Rotors = 2x$23 = $46
Calipers and Pads (Raybestos) = $217
Hyd. Hoses = $24
Miscellanous other stuff @ Junkyard = $50 ?
Total = $337

These prices are from rockauto.com. I am not sure what the other misc. parts are in the ssbrakes picture, and I am not sure if these would actually even mount up. The parts I didn't identify would have to come from elsewhere, probably the junkyard. Maybe someone else knows what these bolts/pieces are? Rockauto did not seem to carry the backing plates in particular, and also the 3 types of brackets in the pic are mysterious to me as well.

Doing some research, it seems most likely that the extra brackets are for mounting the calipers. $400 for rear discs isn't bad...

Guys i am at home right now so i dont have my catalog but Baer brakes makes a really cool rotor upgrade only. Its really slick it just changes the rotor to a 13 inch cross drilled and slotted and it utilizes the stock caliper. You change the caliper bracket and rotor only. I dont know about an 89 but they make alot of later model kits for guys who have gone to bigger wheels.

i wenmt witj the mcgaughy big brake in the front for 785 delivered and getting the rear for 630 delivered from a guy in cali thats on the mcgaughys web site.
