Who got the best deal?

I know that there are good and even great deals that some if not most of us have had. So who go the best deal? What did you pay and how much do you got into it? only if you don't mind me asking.

I got mine for $650 and I have maybe $1500, on the high side, into it including cost of the truck.
Not trying to gloat or anything just wondering, I know that there is someone out there that got a better deal than I did.

Your truck looks kind of tall. Is it a 4X4? Mine cost a grand.

Re: Who got the best deal?

Mine was free but I had to haul another car off from my aunts house first to get it. It was my uncles truck and my students did theservice and work on it for several years. After he passed away my cousin had it for a while until her kids blew up the engine. It wasn't new enough to suit them so it sat at my aunts until I went and got it. That cost me two tanks of gas for my buddy's tow truck and all the Pepsi he could drink on those two trips plus lunch at least once.

In all its glory the way that I picked it up. Split rims, back off mud flaps, Rusted out exhaust and 54 various extra holes that my uncle drilled for different reasons.

Re: Who got the best deal?

Alot depends on what you compare. Are we asking who paid the least for a truck or who got the best deal?It costs more to buy a restored truck for $5,000,but it`s a better deal than a beater for $1,500.

Mine was free. I inherited it when my dad passed 20 years ago. The best deal is the one that is right for you.

Re: Who got the best deal?

I bought mine for 7,500...zero rust, everything I have done to it was just because I wanted to not because it needed anything...Super Happy with it..
Here is a pict of the day I got it in front of my buddies house....I dont know if it was a steal but after all the junk I had looked at this one felt like it was it.

I'm asking for best deal. I know that you can get a free truck that doesn't run and is in horrible condition, but would that be a good deal? I got mine not running. It only took a little to get it running and driving again. I think that I got a good deal.

Re: Who got the best deal?

I paid $1,400 for mine in 1996, but it was a running, driving, mostly rust free truck (originally from Texas, but I got it from an uncle in South Carolina), and they just didn't exist in that condition in southwest New York. Right after I bought it and started driving it I had people offering 3-4K for it, in just black primer. Condition and area vary the price on these old trucks greatly. I get jealous of you guys that find running mostly rust free trucks for less than a grand out west.

Re: Who got the best deal?

We paid $1500 for ours and it did not run. It came with some extra parts, but not too many. So roughly $6,000 invested and 3 years later its still in pieces in the garage.

1972 cheyenne for $450 parted it, kept half the truck for my project and still turned a profit.

Thats for the 67-72 trucks anyway.

For the 73 -87 i bought a blazer that had a lift kit, 36" tires, 3/4ton axles, and a winch for $300.

1978 k10 for a $1,000 , had no rust at the tiem, ran and drove. Still got it.

1978 k20 for $300. Put in a motor and a few items, Had about $600 invested in it. sold for $1300

1978 f150 for $300, had about $700 in it when we sold it. broke even

1984 f150 for $200, had about $600 in it when we sold it. Sold it for $1000

1980 f150 4x4 for $400, had $700 in it whe n we sold it. broke even

1984 Lincln Town Car, traded labor for it. Had about $600 in parts in it. sold for $700

1990 Ford Probe got it for free, Have about $400 in it. still got it.

1987 Mercury Cougar for $175, got $250 in it. Hopefully its gone tomorrow.

1993 corsica for free, had $600 in it. broke even

1968 Impala for free, nothing in it yet. Inherited it from my grandma.

1990 suburban for $150, parted it.

plus all the other things and crap i find on craigslist and turn around and sell at a profit.

I admit it. I am a cragslistaholic. But at least i know how to make money.

I got it for 3800, and it only needs to have a few things corrected. I feel like I got a pretty fair deal on it. But compared to some of the deals you guys find I got hosed
