My GMC truck not only has a lot of rust, but just as much body rot. It's above the windshield, the doors, rockers...seems to be everywhere I look. I've been looking for cabs in better condition, but haven't found any around here in much better shape. So, to the point...My question is, is there any aftermarket companies that are better than others for replacement body panels? I would need a roof section, or entire roof, inner and outer, rockers, etc.

got all my parts from LMC. I had to get all of what you need also,and alot more.my cab was totally shot.it should have been scraped but around here you cant find another. good prices and i had the parts in 3 days.hope this helps.

So now the question becomes what's more cost effective...Renting a trailer for 80 bucks and going to get a whole cab for 400 bucks or buying a roof panel from lmc for 200 bucks and some rockers? Thanks for the help guys.

I went thru 3 cabs and none as nice as that one. I think replacing a roof panel wouldn't be any fun at all. I had warpage problems just replacing corners let alone a whole roof. But I'm less than amature with body work.

I hear that a lot, most people do not realize the amount of work it takes to fix up a rusty cab. I have been down that road on a few trucks but they all had custom cabs that I could not get a replacement cab for. I once bought a truck just for the tailgate that was on it.

I don't know what condition your cab is now but if you have to buy all those repair panels and weld them in, it will take some serious time. If you could get that cab for $400 that is a bargain. Time is pretty hard to come by in my neighborhood. I have been using LMC repair panels on our build. Good luck.

if i were u id get that cab.. i have been working on my truck for over a year now.. had to do everything but on the roof.. i had to do pillars. rockers inside and out.. cab corners. floors.. out floor. kick panel.. cowl... and i spent way over 400.. then you gotta buy cut off wheels and grinder disc and such... it would be so much easier to take your cab off and set this new one on and then sand and prime instead of spending weeks on repairng the rotted metal... and pretty sure if all that stuff is rusted like you said then its like my truck and your floor under the gas tank is shot as well and u would have to make your patch for that

Takes alot of time, money and effort to make a rusty cab nice again.

I would grab it!
I restore cars and trucks. (many 67-72) and theresnot a lot of nice stuff left!
It talks a lot of time, panels, shipping, welding, grinding, seam sealing, ect.
You will find $400 for a cab is not bad!

Dag-Gumm! You just don't see original tin in that good of shape much anymore. I'm staring down the barrel of a butt-load of welding, grinding, sealing and finishing to get my small window cab back in shape.
If I had the scratch, time, a trailer and it were a small winder unit- I'd be all over that cab like stink on $h!t.

Thanks for all the insight guys. Time is definitely easier to come by for me than money. Plus if I did parts at a time I wouldn't have to spend all the money at once, which I don't have anyway's. Some good points to think about though.
