Re: Custom Consoles
Here are a couple pics of the wooden console that I made for my truck..has 2 holes for drinks, and recesses for my cigarettes, lighter, ipod and another larger one for anything else as well as a 6" speaker mounted in each side...didn't take the pics to show the console, but you can see it fairly well.

Re: Custom Consoles
I didn't like the black plastic one that came with it, that's what we came up with. Cupholder would be nice, but oh well.

Re: Custom Consoles
I've always been a little leery of using wood in a vehicle. There is such a huge moisture and temperature swing, It seems like things eventually come apart and the finish peels.

Re: Custom Consoles
mine is kinda wedged between the dash and seat..it follows the hump seam and had a lip that hooks under the dash...you cann't move the seat forward but I dont know to many people that need to move it that would ever drive my truck

Re: Custom Consoles
This is the 1 that we built for my 67. It wedges so strong between the seats that it doesn't need anything to attach it to,even the floor!

Re: Custom Consoles
You're gonna wish it was fastened to something should you ever get into a wreck. Regardless of how strong it's wedged in.

I seen this one in a truck at a local car show. It's nicely done IMO.

Re: Custom Consoles
So where/how do you suggest i secure my console?
i'm trying to avoid drilling into anything at all, but i'm not opposed to using clamps or using pre-existing holes. |
