Re: 3/4 4x4 question
Probably a 14 full float rear and 10 bolt front. I have heard of some 3/4 having a 44 in front, but my experience has been that most after '78 were 10 bolts. Doesnt matter much though, they are pretty equal in strength.

Re: 3/4 4x4 question
Look in the glovebox or under the hood for the RPO codes. Look for G80, that will be a Govlok. If that ain't there, pop the cover and take a look. If you see spider gears, it's open, and if you can't really see inside, then it's a Govlok.
As already stated, could be a Dana 44 or a Corp. 10 bolt. Same strength either way. Dana will have a stop sign sorta shape to it, 10 bolt will have almost a round cover. Also 10 bolt will have 2 tabs at 5 and 7 o'clock positions.

Re: 3/4 4x4 question
Yes,posi.I`m willing to bet it`s a Dana44 in a heavied up pre-80 K/20.To avoid confusion I call the rear a rear, same as a 2wd.I call the front axle...what I just said. The full name is front drive axle, but we can assume it`s a drive axle when we`re talking 4wd.I might say front end also.We use "rear" in place of differential. That works on 2wd w/1 drive axle/differential (in the rear).Front differential works well for referring to the front end.
