BBC identification help needed
I bought a 454 BBC recently and am having problems with identification. Can anyone help.
Casting number:3999289 Per Mortec: 3999289....454.......71-79...2 or 4 bolt, some "CE" replacement blocks had four bolt main caps The stamping on the front pad is: T01231SK I can not find any info on the 1SK suffix code (yes it is clearly marked 1SK). Can anyone tell me what this origionally came in, power rating etc?

Re: BBC identification help needed
The only thing I can think of is that the "1" was a "T" and the top didn't show up. TSK is a '77 Truck with 250 HP or a '75 truck with 215 HP. I trust your eyes since I can't see it. If it's a "1" then I don't know. Sorry, I looked for about an hour and my eyes hurt now. Jeff.

Nope it is clearly a 1, has the little tail at the top. I found a suffix code ISK but it is for a 396 which would have a different casting number. I am stumped.

Re: BBC identification help needed
Well a search on the casting number shows that its a 454 for sure....and all show that its a mid 70's engine. I think that for the stamping number it must be the assembly number from the Tonawanda(sp) Plant. Build that sucker and lay some rubber!
