crazy bed ideas
truck beds. I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING!! anyway here's my idea/plan. i want to put an 88 - 98 chevy longbed on my truck. i like the backend better when it's smoothed. now i want to graft in the upper bodyline from a 72 bed and graft in the wheel wells so they match. what do you all think? i think it would look cool.

Your truck is your truck make yourself happy,
"But in my opinion" I prefer the stock sheetmetal, and if you want it smooth, weld in a roll pan, and smooth off the tailgate....jmho ... John

You can get panels already made to smooth the gate. Sir Michaels is one place.

it seems to me it would almost be as easy to just graft in the new rear end into your old bed...that way you got your new style rearend and maching body lines

December, 2000 Sport Truck magazine
Find a copy of that issue, or any others of the era, and you should be able to find an article about Joe MacPhersons' '70 Chevy. The truck is yellow, and the modifications are extensive, yet subtle. I regard this truck as the finest example of '67-72 Chevy trucks, in MY opinion.
He used wheel openings from an '89 truck. The look is very subtle, yet the squared-off design is complimentary to the original design of these trucks. The chassis modifications are extensive and well documented in this issue, and a subsequent one. I believe one truck magazine used two issues to present the truck to the public. It was in several issues of various magazines. The truck was also driven nearly 2600 miles, from CA to FL. It takes (body parts) to do that with a vehicle that is as nice as this one. Check it out!
