Cab repair questions
My cab needs inner and outer rockers on both sides, i bought the outer floor panels to also fix a small amount of floor that'srusted through on the passenger side(i have both may just use the pass), pass. kick panel needs patched or replaced(probably just cut what i need off my patch panel), and small patches at the bottom in the corner of my rocker. nothings too awful bad, pretty normal rust from others ive seen. i have all the patch panels. do i need to brace the cab? i am just going to do one thing at a time. also i dont have doors yet and Ive seen them used for placement of the outer rocker. is this necessary? it looks like there is only one way for them to go on. im not worried about them them while doing the cab corners since i am not doing the full corner just a patch. or should i be? also the previous owner fill the gas cap hole, i would have any way, and did a good job, it just has a high spot now on the top. he may have hit it with a hammer to get it to fit right or warped idk, but can i simply heat shrink that spot? or? also any tips or how to's on replacing the metal i mentioned on my cab?

Re: Cab repair questions
Well Im currently in the same spot as you. Getting ready to do rust repair on my cab. I cant be of any help in answering your questions. However I can advise that you go check out the paint and body section and search that forum, these questions have been asked many a time with highly experienced people answering. Might also check out Ebfabman.com and buy a set of his videos. I ordered a set myself and am egarly awaiting their arrival. Best of luck and keep on truckin!!

Re: Cab repair questions
Like small said, check the FAQ forum or search for posts on what you need to do.
I'm in DFW and can give (as in free) a pair of doors to get them out of the way. They aren't too bad, but someone decided to cut them on the inside to put some electric regulators in them. The metal can be bent back and welded. Please take them. Please... PM me! I actually bought them from a guy who was going blind. I'm pretty softhearted for an evil person... I didn't have the heart to say no and when I drive a ways to look at something, I usually come home with it because I made the trip. Last edited by 72lb4x4; 01-15-2010 at 03:34 AM. |

Re: Cab repair questions
iam doing mine now . i can tell you if you dont have it apart allready the more you remove the more you find. if you got repop panel like i got the fit is not so great. so iam cutting them to fit better. i dont know about one piece at a time because every thing ties together. a air saw and air nibbler works good for cutting and got some seam splitters from jeg's they work real nice. cut once measure twice. but there is a lot of imformation on this site iam learning from all this guys on here lots of picture to help you out .good luck and take your time.

Re: Cab repair questions
When I did my rockers (inner & outer) on both sides, floor pan, kick panels, etc. I braced my cab, being my first time I wanted to be safe. I would not do your final weld up without first putting the doors on and doing a test fit. Take your time and test fit each piece before your weld it in solid. I have 1 inner rocker left over you can have, just pay shipping.
