my 65 chev c20 "blue balls"
Hey, Thought it was about time to sign up, post some pics, and share why I wanted a old chev pick up.
From as far back as I can remember, I've wanted a 66 chev. My dad Had a blue 66 chev c20 long box fleetside. It lost the battle to rust when I was around 10. I'm 26 now. I dont remember all the details from his truck, like engine or weather it was a 3 or 4 speed. (was a colum shift but converted to floor) But i remember just about everything else, right down to the sound of the starter and squeek of the clutch pedal. My father lost the battle to cancer about 5 years ago. Which sparked my desire to get my own 66 chev. I looked for a long time, everything up here in British Columbia was either rusted really bad or way over priced. I came across an add on craigslist from Kennewick washington. I knew I wanted the truck as soon as i saw it. The pics showed a truck in good shape rust wise, and other then being one year older was identical to my dads old truck. After talking to the owner a few times, i sent him the cash without even seeing it. For those unfamilair, kennewick is a 6 hour drive from vancouver BC. In hindsight it probably wasnt smart to a) send a guy money in a different country for a truck I have never seen b) expect to drive a 45 yr old truck on the highway for 6 hours that i know nothing about. In the end it all turned out ok. The guy was at home ( couldnt get a hold of him for 2 days including the whole drive down) And other then a minor fuel leak (sending unit was loose), the truck drove great. took about 7 hours to get home, and lots of stops for fuel as the gauge didnt work. So here she is, My wife has named her blue balls http://s819.photobucket.com/albums/z...ta/65%20chevy/ she's a 65 chev long/fleet. with a newer model 250 6cyl. 4speed with granny 1st. Since I got it 6 months ago I have: tuned up the motor, she purrs like a kitten got all the gauges working new seat cover and cab carpet new horn button and radio. all fluids changed h4 headlights. Like most, the things to do list is long but the money is tight. For now she sits in hibernation for the winter. Giving me time to fix the little things. I daily drove it for 3 months after i got it and you could not get the smile off my face! anyways, sorry for the long read. I look forward to spending lots of summer days driving her.
