Serpentine Belt System
Trying to decide on what low budget (junkyard) way to go for serpentine system on 350 build and after searching internet have decided that chevy S-10 might work. Was wondering if anyone has done this and if so was there any problem with alternator or a/c clearing TALL valve covers? Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Re: Serpentine Belt System
Can't help you on the S10 system. But I am running a serpentine set up off an 89 up Camaro. No clearance issues with tall valve covers. All the accessories are in front of the cylinder head. Be sure to use the correct reverse rotation water pump.

Re: Serpentine Belt System
I was fortunate enuff to pick up a complete system from an 84 corvette almost free, including all access and wiring. It has the seperate reservoir on top, and looks great except for the smog pump which I will likely just get a idler pulley kit for, or eliminate it. Sort of like the pics. I like the A/C on the passenger side so the hoses are short and out of the way.

Re: Serpentine Belt System
Easiest solution is to swap out the heads. Anything else will be much more difficult. I did hear of someone taking 1/2" plate and making adaptor plates, but then you have to space everything out 1/2" including the water pump and crankshaft pullies.

Re: Serpentine Belt System
I would just drill and tap the head. There should be enough material there, just try an not go any deeper than you have to. Even if you did get into the water passage, it will still seal up with a little thread sealant on the bolt. Wouldn't be much different than the water pump bolts being into the water passage.

Re: Serpentine Belt System
We drilled and tapped the camel backs on my son's race truck with no problems I drilled the top right one out to 1/2 and then drilled the 1/2 bolt for 3/8 to get the right spacing on the front , The late heads with bosses cast in just drill and tap
