What bs for a 10in wheel?

I have a 67swb with a 71-72 rearend. What backspace would I need for a 10in wheel? I need to stay behind the fender because it's lowered and don't need it comign into contact with the bedside where the top turns in(narrowest spot on outside of stake pockets). Any help would be appreciated. I had a new project being started.

Re: What bs for a 10in wheel?

IIRC, the 8" ralleys I run on my Longhorn are 3 3/4 " BS. The old truck IS on 1/2ton suspension, & dropped 3/5, with 1 1/2" body drop. I think on a 10" wheel, you can run 5" BS & be fine @ that drop. Tire size does make a diff tho....I run a 255/70/15 on the rear. If you run a tire with a bigger footprint, or are lower than the effective 6 1/2 " drop I am running, things will change. if I forgot anything, I am sure(at least I hope I am) that some of they other guys will step up & show you what they have done Best of luck, crazyAL

Re: What bs for a 10in wheel?

The rear will most likely end up a 5.91bs on the 10in wheel. Not sure on a diameter tire yet but tryin to see if it will end up coming in contact with the bed sides. I can drop a string taped to the narrowest part of my bedsides and measure, it'll be best. I measure from the wheel mounting surface on the drum and add 1/2in? The 1/2in be because they don't base wheels on the very outside but the inside of the lip(where the tire beads to the wheel).

Watch the INSIDE of that tub also I dont think its the diameter of the tire that will mess you as much as the section width. What is the drop, & tire you plan to run?

Re: What bs for a 10in wheel?

Well it's a 4link, bars on the outside of the frame, and tubs are gone. I can roll the lip where the tubs where on the bedsides, I think they are an inch lip. I don't wanna hit the bedsides where they roll in at the top(if that makes sense). I'm really just set on a 10in wheel and they have a 5.91 and 7.1 which is deep backspace. Want to keep that hotrod wider tire look.

That's really close to this 5.91bs wheel but that could make or break the deal. Is that all wheel or a tire on a wheel but the tire baloons out? These will be on a low profile tire that doesn't baloon out at all really.

Re: What bs for a 10in wheel?

Well, 22in and either 265/35 or 285/35 I believe but the 22 for sure. In the 6lug I did try a 22x10, 5.91bs and it hit the fender, fenders gone and even if I rolled the fenders I couldn't tuck a tire and still turn. I can get a 22x9.5, 6.78bs and it'll look good for the front and I can turn still but I want wider on the back for the hotrod look, narrow on front, wide on back look. I missed around and sent the wheel I tried back and decided that's the wheel and backspace I'd like to try on back.

If you arent running tubs, that opens up some more room to play.....I have a 10" set of ralleys, purchased the blanks, & tapped the centers in. I set em up for 6 1/2" BS, to keep close to the same outer width as the 8" ralleys. They clear an aftermarket replacement drum.....but doubt you will clear a stock tub on the inside. Still need to know more about the drop/tire size. crazyAL

Re: What bs for a 10in wheel?

Thanks for all your help. I'll measure a little and order the wheels if I get close, if not I'll send them back.
