Does anyone know if a fuel filter can be placed on the suction side of the pump? It was located there when I first bought the truck and didnt notice any problems but just makin sure. Before I reinstall. The filter flow 13.4 GPM(804 GPH I believe) and my pump is a high flow(110 GPH) pump, so it should be fine right? I wont be starving it or makin my pump work harder than it should right?

I have seen it done both ways, but most that I see or have done, have the filter between the pump and the carb.

Same here but this is a large filter and there isnt much room under the hood to mount it. It is a old school Russell canister type probably 3"deepx6"widex8"tall. I'm keepin it cause its different from your standard inline or summit canister style. Its got personality

It should not cause any restrictions in the fuel flow, I have one between the tank and fuel pump and another between the fuel pump and carb. That is of course there is nothing in the tank to plug things up, I don't see a problem with running one the restriction should be next to nothing.Vernski

I'm still running the original AC canister fuel filter that's mounted on the passenger side of the frame under the door. I'm not running a race pump, just a stocker and an Edelbrock AFB. It's never caused a bit of trouble. Any of the canister filters certainly have more capacity than the usual inline filters.

I've been running an in-line filter before the pump for several years. There is one problem.

When I would let the truck sit for 3 days or more I had to crank the engine to get fuel flowing. One day I was under the truck and noticed signs of a very slight leak at one of the connecting hoses. What was happening was the fuel was leaking down out of the carburetor. A little Permatex Hylomar between the tubing and hoses corrected the problem.
