I am converting from manual to power steering on a '67 4x4 (k10) chassis. Is there a difference b/w the 2wd and 4x4 steering box and/or pitman arm? If anyone has photos it would be a great help.

I know the '67 chassis will also need an adapter plate. Who makes the best one on the market or do you know anyone who has an extra one?

The 2 wd and 4 wd boxes and pitman arms are different.

Jim is correct. Before you proceed, Google "crossover steering" and read up on that. Way too much info for me to try and post.

If you are starting from scratch and you are contemplating swapping in a disc brake axle (or you already have) this might be a good time. 2x4 boxes are usually cheaper used than 4x4 and much less likely to be worn out.

Thanks for the pointers on the crossover conversion. After looking it up on google it looks like a great option for lifted trucks. I am going to basically stay at stock height so I think I should just try the 4x4 box/pitmen arm swap. I am also running a plow and not sure if the plow frame will interfere with the crossover.

I would find a donor front axle too... might as well go for disc brakes on your 67... My money pit project is going that route... the newer axles all bolt up.

Steering will require a new 4WD box, pitman arm, and if you go with a newer axle then get the drag link, steering arm etc...

I suggest to find a $400 donor 4WD and rob all of the parts that you need, sell the rest for scrap.

I need some more info on this. On project Grasshopper, I am using parts from several donor trucks. My plan was to use the steering gear box from the 91 2wd suburban and put a 4" drop pitman arm on it. Will that work?

2WD's had gear boxes and pitman arms that moved left to right, 4WD's moved front to back.. not sure how long that was true but I bet it went into the 80's like that.
