4x4 frame options for a 47 Chevy 1/2 ton.
I was curious about the frame options I had for a 4x4 frame swap, I have seen a 71 1/2 ton frame used. I have also seen a lot of S10 swaps obviously. I was looking for a full frame swap that would be 1/2 ass bolt on... any suggestions?

73 up Blazer ( wheelbase is 10" short ) or short wheel based pickup ( wheelbase is 1" or 2" different )

Blazers '73-'78 the frame kick is less, from what I understand
Pickups They are all virtually the same, the best bet is to choose based on availability, drive train options *gearing, t-case, transmission, etc* I'm going to use a '78 K5 blazer.

Re: 4x4 frame options for a 47 Chevy 1/2 ton.
What we did on gradpas truck was take a longwheelbase frame and we cut the step out of it when we shortened it, making it pretty much flat. Then we fliped the rear axle to on top of the springs to level it out. Then you have the correct wheel base. You do know the the AD is more narrow than the square body (73-87) and the wheels will stick out of the fenders.

[IMG][/IMG] edit: The wheels are turned slightly right in this picture, but it was the best one I could find that shows how far they stick out.

The 4x4 front axle is wider than a 2 wheel drive. You can use a dana 44 out of a jeep wagoneer their narrower than the chevy.

.05 is not much. I thought it was alittle more than that. What are you going to do with the 9.5" to short of wheel base?

That was the first one I saw. It had 67-72 rear fenders on it, but I like the way it looks. There is a guy on this board that has one, Gene, and I am going to drive up to where he lives and take a ton of pictures, notes, etc.
