Lugs and Axles???
Hey guys, i got some questions and i know you guys have the answers. I recently put a 75 nove sub frame on my 54 GMC. It has the standard disc brakes and 5 lug 4-3/4 chevy pattern. What my question is, i was going to use a newer axle from a chevy s-10 with factory disc brakes because i can get one pretty cheap. Do you guys know if the newer s-10 have the same lug pattern or would i be better off using a different rear axle. Or can i swap the front hubs and brakes to newer stuff without having to swap the upper and lower A arms? Im trying to get the front and rear lug pattern to match with 4 wheel disc for as little as money as possible. Any help or info would be much appreciated.........Oh ya its a chilly 74 degrees today in Surprise Az.

Yup, the S-10 has 4.75 too.

Re: Lugs and Axles???
S10 spindles are Metric so they are the same as the later A/G cars (Monte/Cutlass) so I don't think they'll fit the Nova.
Unless you are going to run spacers or tub the bed, the S10 rear is too narrow, especially the non-4x4 axle. We put the 4x4 axle in my son's 54 Chevy and then 2" spacers. I put a Camaro disc underneath a '52 I just sold and it fit great. I got it with disc brakes for $75. |

Re: Lugs and Axles???
Glad you caught that. I just assumed he was talking about a 4x4, but like Dan said, you won't be happy with a 2wd axle. You'll either have to run huge spacers or find some zero offset wheels for it.

Re: Lugs and Axles???
I used a Camaro on a roller I sold last year. Fit was MUCH better. On the light hunt for another...watch the ring gear size, they aren't ALL 8.8s.
