Welcome to the board, the best advise I could possibly give you is to sit down and start reading.
Lots of threads here dealing with your question. (yes, the tub 'should' be supported for the best outcome) |

Re: My Restoration Begins on a 1969 k5
Here is a great example for bracing [somebody provided it in your other post in the truck forum] - it even includes the ability to dial in the gaps when doing the welding.

Re: My Restoration Begins on a 1969 k5
depends on what you have available...and how in depth you want to go.
If I ever do one...I will do the following: 2wd front xmember swap from a 73-87 chevy truck taking all steering components, linkage, and brake stuff - so you get disk brakes and more plentiful/cheaper front end parts when rebuilding the front end. Rear - find a 5 lug leaf Spring rear and swap the axle out and then put the axle on top of the leaf springs. |

Hey wholio, Welcome to the board from a fellow blazer owner. What part of Houston are you in? I am down here in Pearland.

OK basically i been doing a little thinking, i need some advise, on my truck the floor panels, rocker panels, kicker panels, some of the fire wall, window pillards ect.. are F**ked up but on my donor there in perfect condition, i was wondering if i could some how cut my donor cab all the way to back wall of the donor truck and just replace it, or should i slowly buy everything new?
im going to attach pictures to better say what im trynna do, the blue area is where im tryin to cut |

Re: My Restoration Begins on a 1969 k5
I would replace everything you can from a donor vehicle. It takes a little more time but saves money and everything seems to fit back together better in my opinion.

Re: My Restoration Begins on a 1969 k5
You can get floor pans cheap - cheaper then you could scab floor pans out of a old truck.
I would look at Raybucks catalog to see if they were available. http://raybuck.com/ I have know Randy Raybuck since the days when he worked for T.W Phillips gas and oil and built VW Rabbits in his garage in his spare time. They are a slip fit, no hassles install. |
