I have 2 problems that I'm currently working on (the problems are not related):

Door Closing Problem:
I'm replacing the passenger side door and the replacement door fits a little further back on the cab and collides with the striker and won't close.

Anybody know of I can move the door forward, and how?

Bent Frame Problem:
I'm getting a new front bumper in tomorrow. Problem is, the frame rails are bent over by about 3"-4" in front of the front crossmember.

Any opinions on how to bend the frame rails back with out going to a shop?
Bang the crap out of it is all I have come up with it.

on the bent frame where the frame is streched could you put some thin slices into them then hit them back square then weld the slices back up and grind smooth?

For the door, the strikers had shims from the factory, you may be able to remove some of the shims to get the clearance you need (if you haven't done so already.) If not, I think you're going to have to adjust it back towards the fender a little bit.

I would buy or rent a hydrolic port-a-power to straighten the frame rails. I straightend the front frame rails out on one of my Datsun 280-Z's with one, woked pretty good. Joseph

What do you use to push on with the porta power. What do you brace against. A tree??? I have the same problem but with my rear frame rails. Previous owner hooked something with his heavy duty extended camper bumper. I tried beating with my biggest sledge hammer, but it just laughed at me. Thanks, and good luck with yours JoJo.

Ok I looked closer at it and its not only the striker making contact, its actually the door edge. To adjust it back towards the fender, do I simply remove the fender and loosen the door bolts?

Yeah, where do you push on with the porta power?

BTW, thats how mine was bent too, ( somebody hooked the original bumper )

Jojo, you can loosen the door hinges that mount on the A pillar and push the door forward towards the front, loosen them just enough to move it forward. It will be easier access if you remove the fender.

put the porta power out on the end of the bent frame rail, and push from the opposite frame rail , but right up against the cross member, so it doesnt bend the wrong side.

I vote for 'Bang the crap out of it' .... I am still laughing...I have an old F**d F350 that we could get up to speed and ram into it if you need a really big hammer

I would offer to lend a hand, but I seem to be better at tearing them down, than putting them back...which way does the frame need to bend? is it away from the other rail, or towards the other rail? I have had limited success with a ratcheting chain binder, one big oak tree, and one heavy truck. If you are close to me, I may even be able to help (and I have big toys - frame chains, come-alongs). I also have a buddy with a shop that has the tie downs in the concrete for doing this very thing (he is close to I-10 & 1604) I don't know what he would charge, but it is worth it to be done right (if the truck is going to be a driver).

Before you go about adjusting the door, take the striker off.
That way you don't have to worry about closing the door & having it slightly out of adjustment and jammed tight.
Resinstall the striker after you have the door hung the way you want it.

I am still laughing...I have an old F**d F350 that we could get up to speed and ram into it if you need a really big hammer I would offer to lend a hand, but I seem to be better at tearing them down, than putting them back...which way does the frame need to bend? is it away from the other rail, or towards the other rail?
