fitting question
i have a question for my fellow board members. i am currently trying to convert my stock steel trans. lines over to braided or rubber pressure line, the original steel lines were 7/16 just like many vehicles of that era. i ordered my fittings and hose ends from jegs the other day but the fittings were to large. i ordered 1/2 pipe to -6 an fittings, but the pipe end was way to large. when i measured the steel lines fitting it appeared to be 1/2 , is pipe measured by the id and not the od? if anyone has made this conversion suggestions would greatly help.

Re: fitting question
Yep. Pipe threads are ID. If you are unsure of the thread size you could take the fitting you are trying to match to your local Lowe's or Home Depot. They always have a display to verify thread size. It will be in the plumbing section near the brass fittings.

Re: fitting question
If you have a th350 trans the fittings that go into the trans are Aeroquip #fbm 2111 this fitting will thread into the oe trans fitting and will convert to 6 an. You will need 4 of this number the other 2 will go in the radiator. You will also need 4 6an fittings for the hose. Then all you will need is 6 an hose what ever length.
