You may also want to check into an electronic ignition conversion kit. It replaces the points in your existing distibutor. From what I've heard they are really easy to install and cost under $100. I know Pertronix makes one and I've been told MSD does also.

Matt,

I've toyed around with doing that project for my V-6 but I dropped in the $75.00 Petronix kit instead and have NO regrets. Please note what the add states, you must remove your gear off your existing assembly and put it on the new set up, but I wonder if it's as easy as they make it sound?

I can personally recommend the pertronix, used one for years on my V8 until other, unrelated parts (vacuum advance) started messing up and I found new HEIs cheaper. I'm assuming the need to remove the gear from the old unit is for the new HEI. It's no problem, just drive out the pin.

I buy HEIs from this site for my V8s, again no problems. Don't know if they have them for the V6 (the unit in the first post is a "custom built", which may be the case with the 305 V6) but certainly worth checking, you probably won't beat their price.

Matt's K5, I'll send you a pm with their contact page link. I don't know if I'm allowed to post it here.
