Cab mounts, open for suggestions.

The following pictures, obviously not to scale, and not done in CAD. I want suggestions, criticisms, observations, help, or wtf from my fellow board members.
I am putting my '49 on a K5 chassis. After a lot of investigation and searching I found the measurements from the center of the front axle to the center of the front cab mounts. This measurement is 30" (give or take) and strangely enough, Chevrolet didn't change much in 30 years. The center of the existing mount on the K5 is 30" (give or take) from the center of the axle. Amazing huh? Anyway, I want to know if you guys have any thoughts on my idea. I am particularly concerned about the 4" gap between the cab and frame rail. Should this be braced also?
I'm wearing my suit, so fire away.

Edit: By the way, the material for the rear mount will be 2" channel iron. The material for the front mount will either be 14 gauge or something else based on the replies to this question. The upright supports will probably be 3/3 1/4" square tubing or something similar.

Support our troops, stand behind 'em or get in front of 'em.

What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?

Re: Cab mounts, open for suggestions.

Just thinking out loud, but could you remove your stock mounts - trim off the mount 90 degrees to the bottom of the round part of the mount - then weld in a filler piece flush to the bottom of the mount - flip over and reattach. If you use a bushing it would at least close the gap. I hope you can uderstand what I'm trying to say.
Good luck

You mean take the stock K5 mount shown, flip it upside down and raise it high enough to meet the cab? Obviously adding some metal to the side that attaches to the frame and filling in the "bottom" side to make it flat?

Good idea.

What do you think about the channel going all the way across?

Re: Cab mounts, open for suggestions.

Ok what we did is take a piece of 2 x6 retangular tubing
and trim it to make a filler piece to make the frame level
(with no dip under cab )
then we cut the rivets out and removed the stock mount
removed the old mounts from origionl frame
bolted to cab and lowereed the cab in place
then bolt /weld to frame
perfect fit and cab is setting on its origional mounts
see picture of where to fill in frame etc

So is your 2x6 sitting on top of the K5 frame? Contoured to fit on the bottom side?
