Tire Size Help For A 71 C10
Ok it's time for new tires and wheels. I have a 71 C10 2WD LWB. I am going for a beefier look and am thinking BFG AT. I want to know how big I can go without making any adjustments or spacers. Also, any ideas on ideal wheel size to match with the BFG, 15", 16" or 17". If anyone has any pics, that would be awesome. It think I know whats its gonna look like but would love some reassurance! Thanks guys!!

Re: Tire Size Help For A 71 C10
I'm running BFG TA's:
2) Front 215/70/15 (2) Rear 275/60/15 With a 5.5"/6" Drop. 3" Shortened Springs w/2.5 Drop Spindle and a 4" Spring Drop in back w/ 2" Drop Blocks. My "Plan" is to go with 20" Centerline "Telstars" in the rear and match 18" in the Front.

Re: Tire Size Help For A 71 C10
15x8" wheels
255/60/15 front tires 275/60/15 rear tires 3.5/5 drop You could also run a 255/70/15 rear and 235/70/15 front. I wouldn't go 16" because tires are hard to find and they usually cost more. If you go 17" wheels, you could run 275/50/17, 255/50/17 or 275/60/17, 255/60/17.

Do you, or anyone else here, think you could fit the 275/60/17, or 255/60/17's on a '67 stepside with a 5/7 static drop? Or would I be better off going with something closer to the stock height of 28" like a 255/55/17? This would be on 17X8 rims with a 4.5" backspacing on all 4 corners (and modular spindles so front track width won't be as much of an issue). I'm really not sure if I'd go with the same size tire all the way around, or try to go bigger in the back, or what... I've got some wheels nailed down, but REALLY unsure as to what tire size to run with them combined with a 5/7 drop. Would love to find some redline or 1/2" white walls/lines in those sizes for 17", but they are RARE and pricey, but that's besides the point, still have to nail down a size to get!

Re: Tire Size Help For A 71 C10
Staggered tire sizes look better IMO. The 60 series tires may be a tad too much tire with a 5/7 drop.

yeah, I agree, staggered tires can give a nice stance, but I'm not opposed to the same all the way around if done correctly and the lowering kit sits level and/or tires are even with fender openings. I'm now aiming more towards the 255/55/17's (shown to be 28" tall, but wonder what reality is...?), because I can find them with a redline or white wall too (not a priority though), but not sure what to do out back, if I should go same size, or upsize some... a hair wider would be nice. But, I can only find 275/50/17, and it is a tiny bit wider, but also about a 1/4" shorter too! Not what I want. The 275/60/17 I found is actually skinnier than the 255/55/17's I found (different brands apparantly vary on what metric ruler they are using, haha!), don't know what the deal is, but it's also 1.9" taller! I don't think I want a stagger that significant since I don't want too much rake in the stance.

Re: Tire Size Help For A 71 C10
Rallies to fit these trucks for 5 bolt have to be 5 X 5 spacing. Most of the cars were 5 X 4.75 and won't fit.
Honestly not sure of factory size of tires, so someone else will have to chime in on that one... correct if I'm wrong, but weren't they 28" tall?
