Exhaust manifold bolts (need size)

We'll since I'm out on a week long break, I decided to finish off the truck's engine once and for all. I need to hook the stock exhaust manifold back into the engine. However, I don't have the old bolts and I'm having trouble finding new ones. I went to O'reilys and they first tried to sell me the head bolt kit, then the exhaust flange stud kit. But isn't the flange kit well....the one that connects to the pipe? I need the bolts that go to the engine heads. I had set a goal to have it up and running by tonight.

If anyone knows the correct size, name, or even a part number for the exhaust manifold-to-heads bolts. I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh, and i know the A/C compressor bracket hooks up to one of the bolts on the exhaust manifold....does this one have to be longer?

It's an 84 350 by the way.

Tractor Supply sells grade 8 bolts for 4 bucks a pound. Just take your manifold in and get 3/8 bolts the right length. You need 1/2 inch of bolt thread sticking out past the manifold for good thread engagement into your heads.

Thanks a lot! Yeah I tried a spare screw and it went 3/4" in to the heads. So I factored in the 1 1/2" and it came up to a 2 1/4" total length. I'm thinking it might be a better idea to get 2" bolts so it can pull tighter though.

But O'reily's has them for $1.15 a bolt!! thats near $17 on bolts, I'm trying tractor supply tomorrow.

Re: Exhaust manifold bolts (need size)

Well, no surprise here....but I ran into some problems.

Did I install the a/c compressor wrong? The long bracket that goes on the block has a provision which I'm sure is supposed to fit into the hole in the A/C bracket....but it's an inch or so off.

Re: Exhaust manifold bolts (need size)

Well big thanks to Slonaker for providing me with much needed pics of how to assemble this thing. I'm that much closer to finishing the engine.

Picture me rollin! Haha, I'm having dreams of driving the truck already.

Re: Exhaust manifold bolts (need size)

Anyway, I would appreciate it if anybody had close up pictures of how and where the three wires that attach to the carburetor linkage go.

I also seem to be in need of replacing one of those wires that extends down to the transmission. What's it called?

Re: Exhaust manifold bolts (need size)

Nevermind, I figured it out. I still need to know the name of the cable that extends down to the transmission. Is that the "kickdown" cable?
