250 6 cyl to NV3500 trans?

anybody here ever stick a NV3500 5 speed trans behind a 250, or even a standard 350> I am planning this swap for my 66 with the stock 250, but want to make sure it will work. the bellhousing has the same bolt pattern I know, my only concern is the starter. the 250 starter bolts to the bellhousing and the NV3500 starter bolts to the engine block. the trans is out of a 93 truck with a 4.3. an help is appreciated, THANKS!!!!!!!!!
