Anyone with mild dropped 67-68 burbs

Anyone have pictures of a 67 or 68 suburban with a 2" drop? GMCPauls only has a 2" drop for a 67 3/4ton, and I dont want to update to disc yet so no drop spindels for me.

Im thinking of a 2/2 hoping it will keep the factory rake. If anyone know of a way to go lower without notching, converting or going to bags let me know please.

Re: Anyone with mild dropped 67-68 burbs

I've got bags front and rear only right now. This is aired all the way down and ride height is about 2-3 inches higher.

Hope this helps.

Edit sorry, missed the part about not wanting to go to bags...

Its a nice looking truck either way!

I am just staying with the coil springs for the cost factor.

Re: Anyone with mild dropped 67-68 burbs

Have you thought about cutting 1 coil off the front springs? This should lower the front 2-3 inches. You could add a 2" block in the rear to lower the rear provided this has the diff above the springs. I'm guessing this has leaf springs since it is a 3/4 ton. The block works for coil spring suspension as well. This would be the cheapest way to lower. Welcome to the club! Lots of great projects and like minded people here.

Its the trailing arm/coil spring rear end on a c20, so its coil all the way around. I would rather buy the part instead of cutting. Kinda anal about that stuff.

Thanks for the welcome.

Re: Anyone with mild dropped 67-68 burbs

no....all 3/4 ton 2wd burbs have coil springs...i love the setup on these trucks! leaf's are just plain ugly! i do agree on the simplicity factor of just going with lowering coils and not going drastic with the drop as well as keeping some rake. a 2 inch drop is like the old factory ss trucks and modified sport trucks that were popular before everyone jumped on the bag 'em and drag 'em craze. even if you have a 1/2 ton burb, i'd suggest going with the 3/4 ton rear lowering coils to handle the extra weight (vs a pickup) and so you can haul loads without sag (the back end is already low enough). my 3/4 ton burb is staying at stock height and im putting the 3/4ton heavy duty option springs on the back for hauling BIG trailers in the future. sounds like a good project.....give us some pics of before and after when you are done!

Re: Anyone with mild dropped 67-68 burbs

Doing a 2" front coil drop on my '71 3/4 burban, either this extended weekend or next. Received my CPP parts last week.
Shooting for the rake as well, I have stock HD coils in the rear but I am running Kelly Air Shocks so it will allows me to play with the rear height a little to help me see where I want it to sit.
Sitting now @ 33 3/4" grnd to inside of fender on all four corners, so this should be interesting.
I will get some before and after pics of it, wrong year but still might give ya an idea.

Re: Anyone with mild dropped 67-68 burbs

I just dropped the rear of my 68 with two inch blocks and am raked to even lower in the front. You can call this lowering mild, conservative, or sensible but it really isn quite low enough. In the front, I cut one loop out of each coil and used CPP 2.5 inch lowering spindles. The top of the front tires (2257515's) are about at fenderlip height and the top of the rear tires (2756015's) are visible by an inch or two.

Re: Anyone with mild dropped 67-68 burbs

Ya the rear stance will probably next ... but I really want to see how it all sits and rides before I order anything else in the back ... have Std HD Coils in the rear but I am running adjustable air shocks which will help me decide rear height.

But I do like the rakes on this style truck.

Here is a before and after of the 2" spring install on my C-20 ... the new drilled rotors still have not shipped. But that will be the finishing touch.

Re: Anyone with mild dropped 67-68 burbs

well mine was 3/4 ton as well until I bolted on a few parts and lowered it 2" or was that 12"
For comparison Low Buk is lowered about 5 1/2" in the front.
