Custom Lighting

Hey guys, I haven't been around for a while, but I am now.

I have been wanting to do something somewhat custom to the bed of my truck and finally got the wild hair to do it. I got these lights from wally world for about $1.00 a piece. I decided to put 2 on each side and one centered for a unique look. I think I got it. This pic is from right after I got them wired up, so I'll take a new one tomorrow evening of it with everything buttoned up. Sorry for it being crappy, it's from my phone.

If you have any custom lighting you've done to your truck, post it up. Might give some others like me a neat idea for their truck.

I'm going to do something similar in mine under the bedrails for a cargo light with some white LED's.

Re: Custom Lighting

I used self tapping screws for them to position them, then I drilled the holes out and used 3/16 machine screws down from the top for the finalization.

I do too. As a matter of fact, I collect lights. I have some clearance lights, some more mood lights, fog lights, driving lights, and a cargo light. I also have some emergency lights and a dome yellow light for if I break down.

Re: Custom Lighting

I found this websight last spring www.v-leds.com and have been buying and installing their lights all through my burb.
I've installed a 48" blue strip light as well as three 6" blue strip lights onto the inside front plastic cover of my instrument cluster to get the coloring and lighting effect I was after.
I've also installed 6" blue strips to the inside edge of my outer door handles for a blue glow onto the blue 'burban.
The overhead console's reading lights I installed the round flat discs that fit right into the bottom of the housings and give off some serious light.
The under dash courtesy lamp has been replaced with a 24" & a 12" white strip light.
I also installed three 6" white lights to illuminate my cubby hole, heater controls and the switches for my rear defroster, rear window, rear heater and heated mirror switch.
I'm also going to be installing this week a 48" white strip light under the rear of the front seats for the rear floor area as well as two 60" white strip lights overhead in the rear cargo area of the burb.
The strip lights come in lengths from 6" to 72" and can be cut down to size in 2" incriments.

Here's some pics of the lights I'm using...

And of the "disc" lights in the reading lights...

Really wanted to do blue lighting in my bed and under the doors, but in the State of Wyoming, you can't have red or blue exterier lighting.

Re: Custom Lighting

Hey guys, I know I'm not a '73-'87 but I wanted to toss out what I did for my truck. I couldn't figure out why by gauge lights wouldn't work so I used some LED strips.
