6.2 turbo swap

so i found a 88 6.2 with 86000 it has a auto behind it but i have a muncie 4 speed. what all will i need to make the swap. hydroboost pump, master cylinder, powersteering pump/lines, can i use my 4 speed if i buy a flywheel/clutch for the 6.2l.and how much boost/power can these engines handle/make with a girdle kit and minor internal upgrades.

Re: 6.2 turbo swap

What are your minor upgrades?. Bone stock motor is 12psi MAX! Girdle her and drop in a 18.1-1 comp/ratio pistons and you can run 22psi. But you will have to get a DB2 pump off a 6.5 to push enough fuel at that bost with larger injectors. Full arp head and main studs will have to be ordered too.

Re: 6.2 turbo swap

if your looking for more then 300 reliable horsepower you should consider a different engine modifying a 6.2 to too build big numbers is a waste of time! Read my sig I have two 6.2's I'm not knocking them they are great fuel misers for light to med duty! a cummins 6BT 12v can easily build 400hp with minor tweaks and they were installed in gm p series frames so mounts are available several people offer custom mounts that are great quality as well

not sure of torque numbers but 300 to 350 hp should be close with those mods. you will be working this motor pulling a 28 footer

Re: 6.2 turbo swap

Less than 300hp with about 475tq. 28ft inclosed will be pushing it like said above. With you tranny choice it will easier on it than with the auto. I think as along as your not draggin the trailer over the speed limit you should be ok.

Re: 6.2 turbo swap

O the car hauler will be fine. Like I said before as long as you take care of it and don't haul a$$ with the trailer behind you you should be just fine. It at all possible buy a new crank. They are prone to crack.

Re: 6.2 turbo swap

I believe so since yours is alrealdy a standerd.

Plus the brake hydraboost. Might check the pickup in the tank they may be different. Get all the fuel filters and fuel/water seperator along with the the intire wiring harness. Probly have to make your own "wait to start" light in your dash.
