Enclosing the space behind seat on TF

I have found a bunch of photos of finished truck interiors with the area behind the seats enclosed to match the inside cab curves. I have not been able to find any threads of information on how to build that except for plastic panels for sale by aftermarket guys. By experimentation I have found that 1/8" masonite will not bend the radius with out breaking. I am thinking maybe heavy card board as a form for building up fiber glass? I can make some cleats to mount under the window where it kicks back and for the floor.

That's what I'm looking for. What happened between the first and second photos? It looks like you built-up fiberglass and resin over something. Or did you make a reverse mold and cast it? That is the basic idea I am going for without the console. I'd like to be able to put my rifle and other stuff back there out of sight without it rattling around, thats one of the reasons I went with the seats with tilt backs. Also plan on a couple of 6x9 speakers.

Look for a product called benda-board or wacky wood. try a a drapery supply store. plywood suppliers also. This is what I'm going to try when I get there.

I found a site called fiberglassforums.com that has lots of information. Here are two photos of a later model truck but same principle as what I am after, but without the center speakers.

You can buy sheets of the card/fiber board that they use to back upholstery on door and inner panels and it will bend somewhat.

I think that if you built a box/cabinet that took up generally the same space/area that the gas tank did you would be in pretty good shape. A long hinged space at the top for the long gun and speaker and tool box space down below and then either carpet or upholster it. Something that looks like a filler panel to untrained eyes from the outside.

Thats the plan, a small place to stow stuff out of sight. The bed will have a tool box for the hi-lift jack and accessories.

Here is one of the parts I will be producing for my 59 build.I thought if I was going to spend numerous hrs I might as well build the molds.I also have a full headliner mold,door pillar to join it all together,kick panel mold to hold speakers etc.All parts are composite some using high end infuse cores .Will post my built soon.

Price $400.00.Its a real nice part,excellent fit,high end gel finish.Its weigh 17 lbs has a core in it to keep it shape.Will reduce noise.Thick enough to install insert.A great structure to build something unique from.PM me if you need more info.

Will do Russell.I also have 3.5 inch wider tubs for the fleetside box for you can use up to 11 inch rims and I hope by summer I will have a complete smooths out box sides for the fleetside or a complete box and also a tub floor.I have two trucks to build and I don,t want to go thru the process twice thats why I am building molds for everything.
