Dome and cargo lighting

Anyone tried replacing the dome light and cargo light with aftermarket or different vehicles lights. I like the modern ability to turn on the light from a switch and have a light for each side. Anyone with some pics of theirs would be great.

Re: Dome and cargo lighting

I eliminated the cargo light and put in a third brake light from another brand of truck. However, the change out of the dome light should be real easy, as long as it is the same size or larger than the original assembly.

Re: Dome and cargo lighting

I put a mid/late 90's S10 rear view mirror in my 73, it has map lights on each side of it. Wired it up so they both come on when the door opens, and each can be turned on normally when doors are closed. Kept the stock dome light too, just got a NOS housing and lens...looks like a million bucks now.

Wow, I figured this would be one a lot of people had done. No one has any fits from other donor vehicles.

I'd be interested in seeing a pic of the mirror install if you have one?

I can take one later and will post it. Wish I would have took one before I installed the headliner.

Re: Dome and cargo lighting

Anyone tried retroing one of these.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...92903113466166

I went to the pick and pull looking for one to measure and check the contour but no luck. If the little pocket is big enough, it can house the radio also. Anyone with a newer model, is this thing big enough for a radio?

That is exactly what I was looking for Justins76, that looks great. Any problem with leaking?

Nope. I used some closed cell foam self adhesive weatherstripping tape from Ace hardware to seal it.
