doetsch shocks 86 gmc

so i order a set of doetsch shocks with my 5/7 western chassis lowering kit and was wondering do the shocks have to have the metal sleeves in the bushings or no? wondering cause the bushing i had sent with the shocks wont let me slide it onto the upper shock mount and im prolly gonna run into the same problem with the rears. anyone run into this? thanks for any help and info
