need help......80's q-jet on 72 burb 307

hello all:

i put an edelbrock intake and an early 80's style q-jet on my '72 burb with a 307 to replace the original 2 barrel. i want to use the (hot air?) '84 vintage choke thermostat that i have and was wondering if i could change the clip on the end of the old wire that went to the 2bbl choke pull off and use that as a power source. i am probably off by a mile with my thinking but am hoping to get this truck running by tonight because there is a local car show going tomorrow. any bright ideas....i'm open to them! thanks!!!
