Well I guess you can polish a turd
After some compound, clay, and a little wax, not real bad for 43 yr old paint I guess. Pics 1 and 3 are before shots. The tires a just some spares right now, I am waiting for the rubber to go on the 6 lug 4wd Rally's I grabbed on CL

Re: Well I guess you can polish a turd
I am actually thinking about just leaving like that and not painting her. The only thing that bug me is the PO's crease and spray paint on the pass side. The bumper and plow are coming off, and I am adding some rally's but other than that I like it!!

I like it. Very cool truck. That color with rally's would look cool.

Re: Well I guess you can polish a turd
i like it! rallies and some exhaust and you got a cruiser. some pay thousands to achieve that paint look. should have left mine together and just made it run now i am looking at a few years to completion... wife left now divorced with house pmnt for 2. i might just put her back together have engine tranny hood fixed epoxied left door patched finish it make her run and start over when i get funds.

Re: Well I guess you can polish a turd
Your truck looks better, but I do think there is more shine to be had if you want to spend some time at it. I took this original 68 (now belongs to northernGMC) from this
To this using a product called Flitz -> http://www.flitz.com/p-16-flitz-polish-paste.aspx Keep in mind I did this by hand and was A LOT of work but I think the results were amazing. |

Re: Well I guess you can polish a turd
op probably rubbed by hand. use good buffer with wool pad and 3m finesse it 2 it would shine better but would possibly buff through in spots

Looks real good, I can tell the difference. Looks like satin paint! There are some guys who pay good money for a sating paint job haha!

Re: Well I guess you can polish a turd
I have a real good buffer, however the paint is real weak in areas and when I tried on a couple "good" spots the pad went from white to the color of truck in a matter of minutes. I used to detail before the service and I have some really good stuff but I did not want to run the risk of rubbing through. Once i get the Rally's on with good rubber I am going to give her some more love and see how we look from there

Re: Well I guess you can polish a turd
Love the truck, really love it. big window short wide 67 4x4 is very rare, not only because they didn't make very many, but because most of them got real truck duty and didn't make it
Might look good with a shop truck emblem, too!
