stepper or straight?

If you had the choice between the two which would you pick? My brother just got a stepper bed for free and i'm trying to talk him into selling it to me

It's personal preference. I like fleetsides best, but nothing wrong with a good looking stepper.

Fleetside for 2WD, stepper for the 4x4 stuff, I think they both look best in those configurations.

your g pa is a wise man....you'd be suprised at how many comments i get about that saying.iv'e had admins change it and comment that they don't like it.people gotta think a little deeper before judging it.it means "don't look back"....."don't cry over spilled milk".....what's done is done"......what good what it do to look up a dead dog's as$?....you get it my man.thanks for thinking outside the box.

I'm a fleetside guy myself. (look at my sig), but when I see a stepper like S10 Fan's, make's me think again. Bryan, you nailed everything on that truck...IT'S PERFECT!

Re: stepper or straight?

Totally personal preference. I like the stepside, mainly because that's how we started out (a 69 GMC and an 80 stepside) and I think you get more of an "old truck" vibe.

Funny story: I remember when we sold our 69 GMC stepside and bought our '75 Chevy fleetside. Naturally, the old stepper tailgate had chains and hooks, and the new fleet had the fancy handle in the middle and all the linkage hidden inside the gate.

I remember thinking, at the time "...wow, they've really come a long way in the last few years..."

Fleets to me look cleaner. The step side cuts it up. who needs a step when you have a tire?

Re: stepper or straight?

my preference is really the stepper...... I like the longbed fleet if it were a short it be a stepper.... my cousin bought a 65 stepper and man that thing looked awesome the fleet of that year looks to bulky to me but it's always goes to one thing what you like......

I have owned both and I really like the way a step looks if it is done right. Either way you will have a cool truck.

Re: stepper or straight?

If you tub or mini tub a step ,THEY LOOK AWESOME .

Also I prefer a 73-79 step over a 81-87.

Ithink the front clip of a 81-87 lends itself to the fleet bed. My 2 cents!
