Re: raise bed floor
here is what I would do:
the cross sills that support the bed and the wood floor attatch to the sides of the bed. the sides form a "L" at the bottom to bolt all this together. what I would do is leave the original cross sill attached, except where they interfere with the notch. then I would take some 1X1 angle iron and weld, or bolt it around the perimeter of the bed and front bed panel. attach it so that the bottom of your wood floor will clear the notch. I would also put them on upside down from the way the factory "L" looks. -so the wood will rest on top of your new angle instead of under it. next I would replicate the cross sills with some 2X2, or 2X3 tubing and mount the new cross sills at the higher level right above the old ones. You should probably run some extra tubing between the old and new cross sills to strengthen things up. then I would buy a bed wood kit, and bolt kit and bolt it all up. at the back of the bed you will have to deal with the rear sill, I would get a piece of metal that is shaped like a "c" (so you can access all the bolts from under the bed)that is the same hieght as the step difference, would probably put a couple braces inside that for strength as well.
