NEW Porterbuilt Bolt-in C-notch

I thought I would post up some pics of our new two piece bolt-in c-notch. I have been trying to find the time to finalize this thing for quite a while now… finally buttoned it up a couple weeks ago! This notch will be part of a complete mild drop system we will be releasing shortly, or we will be selling it separately for $249. This isn’t just an ordinary bolt-in c-notch… I put lots of thought into its design to ensure strength, and ease of installation. The fit on these notches is the best you can find in a production notch. We use factory frame-rail sections as a fixture to build them. Its two-piece design make installation a breeze. It locates using the two factory shock cross-member rivet holes on the top of the frame-rails, and then several holes are drilled. The first notch section can be used as a template and a support to cut the notch out of the frame-rails…. no more cutting, test fitting, cutting, test fitting, cutting… you get the picture! Once the frame section is removed, the lower notch will bolt in to the side and bottom of the rails. The lower section uses factory rivet locations on the bottom side of the frame, and also incorporates an air bag/spring plate (making it easier to drill the frame for mounting the air spring). The factory spring stiffeners remain in the chassis, keeping this baby as strong as possible. I will post more pics of the notch once I complete the mild drop kit I was referring to. There’s also more pics on my site for those who want to see more.

Re: NEW Porterbuilt Bolt-in C-notch

If I can ask .... I see you have the items, or parts, fire (lazer or plasma) cut .... why? Do you or have you used water before. I think it makes a better cut, requires less clean up & doesn't use ANY heat to cut the pieces. Just asking.

Again - nice piece ... like your other stuff.

I will eventually be having all my parts cut on a lazer or water jet... but for now, my trusty CNC plasma does just great!

I was just asking .... I find that the slag left from the plasma needs more attention prior to welding.

Love your stuff - very innovative if you ask me.

Hey Nate. How hard would it be to install with the body of my burb on? Can it be done?
Thanks

The top of the notch would be difficult at best... drilling the holes for the mounting bolts would be quite a feat.

It's actually in the works. We are finishing up an extreme drop kit for the 60-62 chassis that will be done in July... then we will also do a mild drop version.

The move is coming along great... especially with the 110* weather we have been having.

But it's a dry heat..... Add 40% humidity to it & see how the move goes.

Extreme weather sux..... hot or cold.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

No complaints about the type of heat.... but as we all know anything over 100 isn't fun! My wife has family in Kentucky and we visited during fourth of july one year.... the humidity isn't any fun at all.

120? I guess that's why they call it Devils Lake?......lake of fire sounds like. Crap around here we're still hoping for the rain to quit and the temps to get over 65 for longer than a couple days at a time.

I gotta update that, no Devils Lake barely gets over 90 in the summer. It usually sits at about 70 the whole season. Now the winters are a different story, it gets in the negative 30s with -60 windchill.

I am over seas right now, stuck in the middle of Baghdad. It will top 135 before summer is over.

Ahhh OK that makes sense now. I know it gets hotter than he!! over there. I just don't understand how anybody can tollerate heat like that. I like the warm weather, but that's just too much. You guys over there have my utmost respect for doing what you do......more so in that unreal heat.
