Need advice on some seat options.
Hey all,
I have a very nice, nearly new redone bench in my '84 K10. I have been wanting some buckets for it and I just thought I'd eventually find a set out of a old blazer or suburban and have them recovered and I'd be set. Well yesterday I found a very nice set of buckets and a console out of a '89 suburban for $250, but they were red/maroon so I called two different upohlstery shops here in town and they both wanted around $200-$225 a piece to recover the seats. That's gonna put me at around $650-$675 for the buckets and that's more than I'm wanting to spend. The alternative is to find a set of nice grey/charcole seats out of a newer chevy that I don't have to recover, but I don't know if I can make them fit and if I can't I'll be out the money and still no buckets. I found a really nice set of grey "nearly new" split buckets and console that fit a 2004-2007 chevy. Will I be able to make these fit in my truck without drilling/cutting holes in the floor of my cab? Has anyone put these newer style seats in a older truck? What did you have to do to male them fit? Are there any other options for buckets as far as aftermaker other than the customs with the wood on the center console? I don't like the look of the wood so that's not a option. Any ideas or suggestions would be apprecited. |

Re: Need advice on some seat options.
If you are willing to modify the brackets, you can make anything fit. But I don't know of a direct factory fit set of seats. Maybe there are some out there.

Re: Need advice on some seat options.
I put Dodge Caravan buckets in my truck using the existing holes. Cut two solid steel plates for each seat, mounted the seats to them, then mounted the plates to the factory holes in the floor. Something to consider.
