1987 ss package
I found this on Craigslist. I have never heard of an SS package. I think if it was really bought this way, it is probably something the dealer did. Anybody heard of this:

Re: 1987 ss package
Yeah that looks to be a dealer/conversion deal. Looks kind of neat though. Not much on the seat though.

Re: 1987 ss package
I highly doubt that was done at the dealer. Looks horrible with that seat too!

Re: 1987 ss package
Probably not done at the dealer, but could have been done by the dealer. Kind of like a conversion truck or something.
I used to work at a GMC dealership right after high school. There was a local conversion place that they would send a couple trucks to if they were moving slow, and have them paint some graphics, add some trim to the interior, tint the windows, running boards, etc.. Not saying that the truck was for sure one of these, just throwing it out there as a possibility. |

Re: 1987 ss package
Yeah you never know. There were plenty of places adding graphics and all sorts of stuff back then. Still cant believe someone put those seats in there.

Re: 1987 ss package
I think you guys have already come to this conclusion, but it's not a factory package.

Re: 1987 ss package
It really could have been done by anyone from an owner all the way up to a conversion company. It isn't hard to get vinyl graphics made, and the rest of it could be bought from just about any place selling truck accessories 10+ years ago.
There are aftermarket companies that market accessories to dealers. The dealer pays them $100 for a sticker package, add it to a truck along with some window tint and a bedcover, and you suddenly have a $2000 "Super Duper Special Texas Truck Edition" package. Slonaker |

Re: 1987 ss package
Pfft.. i could just go throw some stupid looking seats in, then get some stripes made up. Buy any old running boards from lmc... and claim "SS" Me, personally think it looks terrible.
