Re: Window tint help

Just pull it off and usually a nice sharp razor blade and some windex should take the glue off. Cars with rear window defogger are a little different( no blade)

Re: Window tint help

also if it is really really old tint, goo gone works well to help remove old glue residue once the actual tint is scraped off

Re: Window tint help

I just removed the tint off of the front windows on my mom's Altima (illegal to have tint on front windows in Cali).. so she got a removal ticket... anywho... I just heated it with a hair dryer... and started peeling a corner, and just keep pulling on it while hitting it with heat.... done... oh and the colder the better to scrape the glue off. If u used a Bissel® hand steamer... that'd help with removing the glue at the same time.

Re: Window tint help

I found laqure thinner (not sure how to spell it) on a rag makes the glue soft and easily removed with a razor blade.

Re: Window tint help

I always just pull off old tint and use a sharp razor blade and a squirt bottle of water to get glue off

Re: Window tint help

Got this tip from a pro: soak the tint with Simple Green (or ammonia if you can stand the smell) then cover from the inside with a black trash bag and park in the sun for a couple of hours. Most of the tint and glue will come off together.
DO NOT pull off the film and leave the glue it will be 10x harder to get off. If it tries to separate stop and start scraping.
Best of luck.

X2 But soapy water works just as well without the smell. Use johnson's baby shampoo and water in a spray bottle, helps to put a trash bag on the outside too.

Re: Window tint help

Yep, the tint guy I've used for years does the same thing for removal. The trash bag trick works perfect.

Re: Window tint help

Personally, I would do em one at a time... unless you get someone to help you with the other windows... if your in a hurry... my tint guy had his niece help pull off tint.... but he used a handheld pressure steamer... and it peeled right off, real clean too.. glue and all.. he heated.. she pulled...
