Front Drop
I put in 3" drop spindles and 2" drop spings in the front of my
82 swb GMC for some reason the right side in a little lower than the left side with a hint of negative camber. Would a front end alignment solve the difference in height. Thanks, Martin |

the alignment is just going to correct your camber. it will still be lower on one side. that is a common problem whne droping trucks. my passenger side is about 1/2 lower.
how much lower is it on one side?

Interesting, I don't have this problem. Seems like the problem would be in the springs, but if they're new I don't see why.

One side seems to be a little lower then the other on my 79 now that I put the 3" spindles on. I had the 2" springs on for some time and it was even. Im thinking maybe the springs arent sitting correctly in the perches when I put everything back together.

Mine's about a 1/4" or so off. There are a lot of things that can cause this. After driving awhile, it will probably settle and level out a little more. One thing I noticed, which you proabably all have, if one tank is full, and the other empty, it will be off. Fill up both tanks and check it.

Spindle Defects
I was once told that dropped spindles can be shorter than one another......whether it's true I don't know

I'm curious to know if anyone's tested how the weight actually is distributed over the wheels on a fairly stock truck, ie. put scales under each wheel and written the results down?

I didn't say that very clearly, Let me try again!
I think that the weight distribution on the rear axle is 50/50 from the right side to the left. Vice versa for the front two tires. The split from front to rear is NOT even close to 50/50.

I'll be waiting to hear the weight of each front wheel, as mine is 3/4" lower on the pass. side measured from the center of the wheel well to the pavement. Thought about a 1/4" donut under the front right spring, but am still thinking about it !!!!

i have easy access to a scale guys if you wanna know i can do it. i have dual tanks and a 2.5/4 drop. only thing is that i have a big steel toolbox in the back...dont know how much it weighs. just holler and ill weigh each wheel seperately. oh, also remember that in 81 when they redid the front ends they lightened it a lot so that will change weight distribution.
